Preparing for Output
Computers let us make changes up to the last minute, and we usually do. Before you rush your job to Hammer, take a few minutes and check to see that you have...
Your name, phone, and job name on your job disk(s).
A laser-printed proof of your job for use as a reference.
The information needed for the imagesetting job form, including the correct fonts and graphics file formats.
Verified which company issued each font (important, since different companies use some of the same names).
Included or specified those easy-to-forget fonts in your graphics, logos, and other EPS files (they may use only a letter or two, but they still count).
Included custom-kerned fonts or other special fonts.
Prepared a job disk with copies of the material you want to imageset, including necessary graphics files.
Placed (copies of) graphics files where your layout files can find them (make new links if necessary).
Set up your "Print..." and "Page Setup..." dialog boxes to reflect the way you really want the job imageset, not the way you happened to print your last proof (you want 100% size, yes?).
Not selected crop marks in the dialog boxes if you have already drawn your own crop marks in the layout.
If sending a PostScript file, you set up your entire job correctly (size, emulsion down, crop marks, etc.). |
